Program in Brief

The Master’s Degree in “Energy Infrastructure and Logistics Engineering in Ports” is a Master’s Degree program accessible to applicants holding a bachelor’s degree in Class L-9 – Industrial Engineering (Ministerial Decree 270/04) or Class X – Industrial Engineering – (Ministerial Decree 509/99) from any university, or another equivalent qualification obtained abroad. Furthermore, adequate knowledge of at least one European Union language other than Italian, equivalent to level B1, is required, demonstrated by passing an exam/test on a 3-credit course in a previous university program, or by holding a European-recognized B1 language certificate. The program’s Academic Regulations provide specific forms and methods for assessing language proficiency.

The Degree Program in Energy Infrastructure and Logistics Engineering in Ports is open to all and aims to train professionals capable of independently designing, implementing, and managing logistics, energy and technological systems and infrastructures in ports, as well as mechanical design and, more generally, naval engineering problems, managing innovation processes, and conducting highly complex research and development activities. This Degree Program will lead to the development of professional roles such as: port logistics manager, energy manager for industrial activities in ports, and designer of energy and technological infrastructures in ports.

Graduates in Energy Infrastructure and Logistics Engineering in Ports will have solid basic skills in both mechanical engineering and related fields, along with a high level of knowledge of the technical and scientific issues in the various sectors underlying engineering applications and innovations. This knowledge draws on contributions from various cultural backgrounds that contribute to the foundation of the culture and professional profile of the engineer. The curriculum is designed to take into account the transversality that characterizes the program.

Regarding the basic technical training areas, students will be provided with knowledge of English or one of the main European Union languages in addition to Italian (French, German, Spanish). Furthermore, in the core areas of mechanical engineering, students will be able to deepen their knowledge in the following fields: mechanical design and, more generally, engineering problems in the naval and port sectors; energy management skills for the main energy conversion systems for the production of the most important energy carriers used in ports; typical issues of logistics and urban planning in ports; guidelines for the design of port infrastructure; and knowledge of the main materials and their technological properties, essential for the design of components for use in the naval sector.

The degree program is held at the Faculty of Engineering located on Via Brecce Bianche and, subject to a specific agreement, at the premises of the Municipality of Ancona, made available by the Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority, at the Mole Vanvitelliana. The campus has an adequate number of classrooms for lectures. The study rooms and Student Administration offices are located in the main building of the Faculty of Engineering on Via Brecce Bianche.
